  15.   This document describes the modifications that must be made to
  16.   NetWare Navigator 3.0 to upgrade to the latest Target Service
  17.   Agents (TSAs) provided in the new SMS modules (Storage Management
  18.   Services) version 4.03 (dated October 6, 1994.)  
  19.   
  20.   First follow the steps listed in SMSUP3.TXT.  Note that you must copy  
  21.   the appropriate DOS or OS/2 client files to their NetWare Navigator installed 
  22.   locations.  Remember to delete the older versions of those files whose names 
  23.   were changed (TSA_SMS.COM or TSA_OS2.EXE).  Then proceed with the 
  24.   following update.

  35.   SYMPTOM
  36.   
  37.   When using NetWare Navigator and loading the new Target
  38.   Service Agents (TSAs) when the older TSAs have already been
  39.   loaded, or if loading the old TSAs when the new TSAs have already
  40.   been loaded, any combination of the following error messages may
  41.   be displayed at the system console:
  42.   
  43.    - Symbol already defined: xxxxxxxxxx
  44.    - Load file defines a public variable that has already been
  45.      defined.
  46.    - Public variables exported by this auto load file have already
  47.      been defined.
  48.    - Modules xxxxx.NLM NOT loaded.
  49.    - TSASMS already loaded at the workstation.
  50.   
  51.   CAUSE
  52.   
  53.   The TSAs (Target Service Agents), provided by SMS (Storage
  54.   Management Services), that NetWare Navigator uses to perform Push
  55.   distributions to workstations have been updated.  These TSAs are
  56.   included in various Novell products.
  57.

  68.   
  69.   Replace the NetWare Navigator TSAs with the new TSAs.
  70.   
  71.   To use the new TSAs, make the following modifications
  72.   to the NetWare Navigator environment settings.
  73.   
  74.   Client Settings:
  75.   
  76.   A. To modify all the NetWare Navigator DOS and MS Windows client
  77.      workstations that have the new SMS modules, perform the
  78.      following steps:
  79.   
  80.     1. Open the AUTOEXEC.BAT file located at the root of the
  81.        boot drive.
  82.   
  83.     2. Edit the line reading "C:\NETNAV\TSA_SMS.COM" to read:
  84.   
  85.           C:\NETNAV\TSASMS.COM
  86.   
  87.     3. Save the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. The modifications will be
  88.        in effect the next time the workstation reboots.
  89.   
  90.   
  91.   B. To modify all OS/2 client workstations that are connected
  92.      to Staging Servers that have the new SMS modules, perform
  93.      the following steps:
  94.   
  95.     1. Open the STARTUP.CMD file located on the root of the boot
  96.        drive.
  97.   
  98.     2. Edit the line reading "START C:\NETNAV2\TSA_OS2.EXE"
  99.        to read:
  100.   
  101.           START C:\NETNAV2\TSAOS2.EXE
  102.   
  103.     3.  Save the STARTUP.CMD file. The modifications will be
  104.         effective the next time the workstation reboots.
  105.   
  106.     4.  Rename C:\TSA_OS2.CFG to C:\TSAOS2.CFG
  107.  
  108.   Server Settings:
  109.   
  110.   A. To modify all Staging Servers (including the Distribution/
  111.      Staging Server) that have the new SMS modules, perform the
  112.      following steps:
  113.   
  114.     1. Open the NWSDRUN.NCF file located at SYS:SYSTEM.
  115.   
  116.     2. Edit the line reading "LOAD TSA_OS2" or LOAD TSA0S2 to read:
  117.   
  118.             LOAD TSAPROXY
  119.   
  120.     3. Edit the line reading "LOAD TSA_DOS" to read:
  121.   
  122.             LOAD TSADOS
  123.   
  124.     4. Save the NWSDRUN.NCF. The modifications will be in effect
  125.        the next time the server reboots.
  126.   
  127.   B. To modify all Staging Servers (including the Distribution/
  128.      Staging Server) that have the new SMS modules so that all
  129.      future client workstations will use the new SMS modules,
  130.      perform the following steps:
  131.   
  132.     1. Open the NNWSNLM.BAT file located in the NetWare Navigator
  133.        DOS and MS Windows User directory.
  134.   
  135.        Example:   VOL:NETNAV\USER
  136.   
  137.     2. Edit the line reading "COPY ..\CODE\TSA_SMS.COM %NETNAV%\
  138.        *.* > NUL:" to read:
  139.   
  140.           COPY ..\CODE\TSASMS.COM %NETNAV%\*.* > NUL:
  141.   
  142.     3. Edit the line reading "ECHO %NETNAV%\TSA_SMS.COM
  143.        (and so forth)" to read:
  144.   
  145.           ECHO %NETNAV%\TSASMS.COM (and so forth)
  146.   
  147.     4. Save the NNWSNLM.BAT file.
  148.   
  149.     5. Open the NNWSNLM.CMD file located in the NetWare
  150.        Navigator OS/2 User directory.
  151.   
  152.        Example:  VOL:NETNAV\OS2USER

  154.     6. Edit the two lines reading
  155.        "ECHO START %NETNAV%\TSA_OS2.EXE>> (and so forth)" to read:

  198.        OS/2 User directory (VOL:NETNAV\OS2USER) to include

  217.   To update all future Staging Servers to use the new TSAs,
  218.   install the server with NetWare Navigator, then perform
  219.   the steps previously described.
